1 Iraq and Afghanistan Wars – Rotary Centennial Veterans Park<\/strong>
The Cedar City Rotary Club supported the building of this park on the banks of Coal Creek, featuring memorials dedicated to veterans from World War II and wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. It is meant as a place of peace and remembrance in honor of the men and women of Iron County who gave their lives in six wars or conflicts, with each of their names here cut into stone, assembled by their colleagues.

2 Iraq and Afghanistan Wars – 222nd Field Artillery Unit<\/strong>
From June 2005 to June 2006 the 222nd Field Artillery Unit of the U.S. National Guard was sent to Ramadi, Iraq to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. The battalion, headquartered in Cedar City and known locally as the Triple Deuce, includes soldiers not just from Cedar City but from several surrounding communities as well including Richfield, Beaver, Fillmore, and St. George. 

3 Iraq and Afghanistan Wars – Artist: Jerry Anderson<\/strong>
Utah sculptor Jerry Anderson was commissioned to create this tribute to local soldiers who fought in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Mr. Anderson currently owns and operates an art studio in Silver Reef, Utah, just 35 miles south of Cedar City but in the 1960\u2019s and 70\u2019s he worked in the steel fabrication industry in southern California.  During that time he also took correspondence courses from Connecticut\u2019s Famous Artists School where he studied art fundamentals including composition, perspective, and anatomy.  In 1981 he left manufacturing for good, devoting himself to art full-time. Though best known for his bronze sculptures, Anderson\u2019s talent and craft have also been displayed in other media including painting, ink on paper, stone and wood carving, found objects and jewelry.

Mr Anderson also created some of the beautiful statues that grace the campus of Southern Utah University and we encourage you to enjoy them, as well as the other pieces of public art on display there.
