Miss SUU
Miss SUU
Miss SUU's origins began after World War II, when the first Homecoming Queen was elected. Her role was to preside over University events, and be a representative of the student body. For approximately 10 years, the role remained unchanged.
In 1956, another position was created, Miss CSU. The Homecoming Queen retained her mission of a representative to the campus community. Miss CSU's, later Miss SUSC and SUU, new role was a representative of the University in the Miss Utah pageant. Where, if chosen, she would compete in the Miss American Beauty Pageant. This dual reign continued into the 1980s, when the two were brought together.
Miss SUSC was now both a campus representative and Miss Utah candidate. As the twenty-first century continued, Miss SUU slowly left her role of a Miss Utah contestant, and focused on her duties as a campus representative. Miss SUU still continues today, and is usually elected during the winter of each school year.
