Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble...the three witches set Macbeth on his destructive path when they meet in the first scene of the play.
Macbeth sends word to his wife of the witches' prophecy leading to their plot to kill King Duncan while he stays in their castle, where they are successful.
With the Crown
After King Duncan's death, his two sons flee the country for fear of their lives. They become suspects for the murder of their father, and Macbeth is crowned king in their absence.
Lady Macbeth Madness
After Macbeth is crowned king, Lady Macbeth begins to feel remorse for her part in Duncan's assassination. She slowly goes insane, wandering the halls at night, trying to wash imaginary blood from her hands.
